iTunes update no longer plays music

My iTunes recently updated to 12.4.3, and now I have lost all of my playlists, and when i click on a song to play, it takes about a minute to play and then seems like it is buffering as it goes! Can anyone help?!

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
